move4myeloma

Joining together in raising funds to support research and treatment of blood cancer.

About MOve4myeloma

My name is Donna and I am raising funds for the Sydney Blood Cancer Research Institute. I have Multiple Myeloma, an incurable blood cancer. There are treatments such as chemotherapy, stem cell transplant, immunomodulators, proteasome inhibitors and steroids to help slow down the progress of the cancer.

SBCR is a charity, which supports laboratory research, clinical research, supportive care research and the provision of specialised care to haematology patients. They are at the forefront of the fight against blood cancer. Through the above processes, perhaps one day there will be a cure.

An individual can make a difference a team can make a miracle.

move4myeloma has raised Over $125,000 for blood cancer research

This money has been used to fund the cost of high level, detailed DNA sequencing for mutations in the bone marrow cells of people using next generation sequencing (NGS) technology and also to support the research proposal (project lead) Dr Christian Bryant, Prof Joy Ho, Dr Tracy King, Dr Edward Abadie & Dr James Favaloro which involves looking at proposed monitoring of circulating tumour myeloma cells projected in the blood, following standard protocol of DVD treatment.

]This project is working in collaboration with Liverpool, Concord and St Vincent’s Hospitals, NSW.

100% of the proceeds raised from the day are provided to the Sydney Blood Cancer research Group for the purposes of research.
