HSANZ Awards Clinical A/P Tracy King at National Blood Conference 2024

The Haematology Society of Australia and New Zealand (HSANZ) recognised Clinical A/P Tracy King Haematology Leadership Award at recent national Blood Conference 2024.  Tracy’s award is recognition for the significant contribution she has made to the field of multiple myeloma, from clinical care, research, education and patient support.  Tracy co-founded and lead the HSANZ nurses group for many years and co-founded and chairs, the HSANZ Myeloma Specialists Practice Network (M-SPN). Tracy’s doctoral research led to development of PROM for Steroids.

While maintaining her clinical role as the CNC for Multiple Myeloma at RPAH, Tracy has continued to research, contributing to the research program for the ANZ Myeloma and Related Diseases Registry (MRDR) and the USYD Brain and Mind Centre Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy program (A/P Susanna Park). Tracy’s is growing a research program that is person centred and firmly embedded within the clinical setting.

The complicated treatment and supportive care protocols associated with MM treatment led to Tracy and the HSANZ MM Specialist Practice Network to partner with “My Interact” to develop the Myeloma Treatment Scheduler (MyeTx).  This platform enables clinicians to populate the personalised treatment schedule for an individual patient during clinical appointments.  This program is endorsed by Cancer Institute NSW eviQ and has generated significant international interest based on the ease of use and benefits to both patient and clinicians.  MyeTx has recently been updated in partnership with Myeloma UK and the UK Myeloma Society Pharmacy Group, for use in the UK. Tracy is internationally recognised as a leader of her field as a member of the International Myeloma Foundation Nurse Leadership Board (IMF NLB), the Myeloma UK Nurse Advisory Group and founding Chair of the International Myeloma Society Nursing & Allied Health annual symposium. Her colleagues know Tracy has someone passionate about improving outcomes for individuals diagnosed with MM, but more importantly as someone who will always encourage and support them in their career development.
